‘SAS style’ obstacle course returns to Badminton
One of the toughest obstacle races in the UK is to return to the Badminton Estate this summer.
Known as the ‘Tough Mudder’, the 10 mile course consists of 20 difficult obstacles, and in addition, fire, ice, and electric shocks.
People come from across the country to take part, and to raise funds for their chosen charity.
This year the Badminton course has been totally revamped, with new obstacles to encounter, to test physical strength and stamina. There is no race to the finish line, and no winners.
Amongst the teams taking part is a group of women supporting Mencap, a national charity which aims to enable people with a learning disability to live their lives the way they choose.
Sophie Spiteri says; “This isn’t your usual obstacle race. It’s 12 miles of brutal SAS style obstacles. I’m not quite sure why I decided to sign up for it to be honest. I must be mad.”
