A promising season draws to a close for Yate Town

A 3-1 victory over bottom club Bashley brought Yate Town’s season to a close, a result that confirmed that they ended in sixth position, just one place outside the play-offs.

Merthyr Town, already confirmed as divisional champions will be joined in the Premier Division by play-off winners Stratford Town, who finished the season in third spot.
Following promotions and relegations, three new teams will visit Lodge Road in the league next season. Slimbridge, promoted from the Western League, will be joined by Petersfield Town the Wessex League champions, and Banbury United, relegated from the Premier Division.
West Bashley and Bishops Cleeve, the bottom two teams in the Evo-Stik League Southern Division 1 South have both been reprieved whilst Sholing have returned to the Wessex League due to ground grading issues. The new season begins on 8th August, and Yate will shortly announce their full programme of pre-season friendly matches.
At a very well attended Presentation Evening held in the Clubhouse, Jake Cox was presented with the Bill Weekes Memorial Shield after being voted as Supporter’s Player of the Season following a very close vote. First Team Player’s Player was won by goalkeeper Martin Horsell, whilst the other award winners were:
