Second year students from Bath Spa University Alaina Herbert and Charlie Lacey made a guest appearance recently at the New Inn at Westerleigh’s weekly jazz gig.
Alaina and Chalie are both specializing in jazz saxophone and their performance alongside other regular and guest musicians was received with rapturous applause at every opportunity.
Influenced by jazz greats like Charlie Parker and Miles Davis the pair has also played in ensembles such as the South Gloucestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Bath Spa University Big Band.
On Saturday 6 June the two girls also performed at Yate Heritage Centre World War II 70th anniversary event, where they battled against the strong winds to play tunes like 'There will never be another you' and other jazz standards.  On the evidence of these performances their future success in the music world is assured.
