THE ancient custom of beating the bounds was held on Yate Common, with local families and town mayor Wully Perks joining in the ceremony.
Members of the Friends of Yate Common group and Yate rector, the Rev Ian Wallace, also took part in the event, which involved walking the boundaries of the open space.
The ceremony is traditionally held on Rogation Sunday to teach children and remind other locals about the boundaries of their locality.
