TOY animals will be hidden in shop windows in Chipping Sodbury during a children’s challenge run by local businesses.
Youngsters are being encouraged to join in the Sodbury Chamber of Commerce Summer Search and track down more than 30 creatures.
The event, to be run during the school summer holidays, will involve children searching for toy squirrels, badgers, deer, owls and hedgehogs that will have been placed in window displays.
Chamber secretary Laura Lee Phillips said more than 1,400 people took part in last summer’s Sodbury Sheepdog Search to find hidden toy collies.
She said: “We are delighted that so many businesses have agreed to take part this year.”
Anyone who wants to join the challenge can get an entry form from Chipping Sodbury’s tourist information centre, the libraries in Chipping Sodbury and Yate and from participating businesses.
The event will run from July 11-September 3 and is free to enter. Prizes will be presented to the winners at Chipping Sodbury’s food and drink festival on Saturday, September 10.
Meanwhile, real animals in the shape of Barney the barn owl and Spikey the hedgehog will be in the Beaufort Hunt pub garden on Wednesday,  August 3 from 11am-noon, with any donations made going to Hedgehog Rescue and Wild Owl TV.
