Armed robberies at McDonald's and Miss Millie's in Yate

POLICE believe the same robber is responsible for armed raid on two fast food restaurants at Yate Shopping Centre.

The first robbery happened at around 6.20pm yesterday at the Miss Millie's branch in North Parade.

Just over 12 hours later, at around 7am today, the McDonald's drive-thru (pictured above) was targeted.

Police say a firearm was seen during the McDonald's robbery.

A search of the area was being carried out today involving the police helicopter but as yet no-one has been arrested.

Detective Inspector Will Thorpe said: "Officers are currently at the scene of McDonald's in Yate following an incident this morning.

At shortly after 7am we received a report of an armed robbery, in which a male had made off with a quantity of cash.

"Nobody was injured during the incident, but a firearm was reportedly sighted.

A search of the area, including with the assistance of the NPAS helicopter, is continuing at this time.

At approximately 6.20pm last night we received a call about a similar incident at Miss Millie's in North Parade, Yate.

"At this time we are treating the two matters as linked."

DI Thorpe called on anyone who saw what happened to call 101 and give the crime reference number 5221 027 524.
