People in Yate celebrated the Queen’s birthday by lighting a local beacon.
Dodington Parish Council and Shire Way Community Centre joined forces for the event at Shire Way. The event was attended by local artist Val Robinson who originally crafted the “shire horse” emblem on the beacon.
Cllr Paul Hulbert, Vice-Chairman of Dodington Parish Council said; “Beacons are a traditional way of commemorating national events. The Shire Way beacon marks the important connection between the council and the social life of this part of our community”
