Big names coming to Yate for Good Times on the Pitch

YATE is set to play host to some big names from the comedy world and some top tribute bands in a series of outdoor shows.

Good Times on the Pitch will take place on a festival stage at Yate Town Football Club at the end of May.

Tribute acts The Bootleg Beatles and ABBA Revival will play on May 26 and 27 respectively, while on the 28th P!NK by Vicky Jackson and Coldplay tribute Coldplace will both take to the stage.

On May 29 CBeebies stars Andy & The Oddsocks (below) will perform a children's show before a comedy gala starring Jason Manford (above) and Milton Jones in the evening.

Yate resident James Murden, who is on the organising committee, said: "I’ve lived in Yate my entire life and there is a fantastic range of live music events to choose from, but we think there’s room for a little more.

"We’ve worked really hard to bring world-class performers to Yate and we really feel we’ve got something for everyone."

Each night is being sold as separate ticketed event and James says the line-up includes "some of the finest tribute bands in the World, huge comedy stars and something for the youngsters".

Event producer Tom Campbell said: "We want to bring a huge production to Yate and audience members can look forward to a large festival stage, complete with video wall, epic light show and premium sound system.

“As well as our stellar music acts, our comedy headliner, appearing in Yate for the first-time ever, is Jason Manford.

"Jason takes a break from his UK tour to headline this very special evening and he’ll be joined by king of the one-liners Milton Jones, viral sensation Aurie Styla, improv rapper MC Hammersmith and the show will be compered by the hilarious Cerys Nelmes.

"We’re also thrilled that due to overwhelming popularity, we have added an extra performance of Andy and the Odd Socks, plus their special guest and Britain’s Got Talent 2022’s opening act Titan the Robot."

Organisers intend to make ‘Good Times on the Pitch’ an annual event and have ambitious plans for future years.
