Bike Week inspires families to join festival rides
Dozens of families have taken part in bike rides on the final day of Chipping Sodbury’s Summer Festival, which overlapped with National Bike Week.
They were organised by Yate and Sodbury District University of the Third Age. Riders clocked up 750 miles between them, with the U3A Cycling Group completing a 12 mile family ride, incorporating a word search quiz and prizes. There was also a more challenging 25 mile rural ride for adults and children.
Ride on Cycles provided a free “Doctor Bike” service for any cyclist whose bike needed a quick MOT.
The event was gate crashed by Radio Bristol’s Clueless team. Presented by Richard Lewis, the programme works its way around the area on Sunday mornings.
Both rides finished at the Old Grammar School for refreshments and a completion certificate.
