DODINGTON parish and Yate had plenty to celebrate when five entries in a South West in Bloom competition were judged to be outstanding.
The Friends of Lilliput Park, Wapley Bushes Local Nature Reserve, Dodington Allotments Association and Wapley Common and Orchard for the Future were the four entries from Dodington to achieve the highest rate of success in this year’s challenge for neighbourhoods.
In Yate, the Friends of Kingsgate Park also had their entry judged to be at the top standard in the neighbourhoods category.
Dodington councillor Paul Hulbert, who is involved in the Wapley Bushes reserve, Wapley Common and the orchard, said: "This recognises the effort put in by our dedicated groups of volunteers. Dodington Parish Council is very proud of all of them.
“We were also very pleased to see an ‘outstanding’ award given to Yate Town Council's magnificent Kingsgate Park.”
Representatives of the winning groups received their awards at the annual South West In Bloom ceremony, which this year was held in Taunton.
