Business group’s charity of the year gets £2,500 boost
FUND raising events helped the Sodbury and Yate Business Association (SYBA) collect nearly £2,500 for local charity Brain Tumour Support.
The Thornbury-based organisation has been the association’s charity of the year, with a range of activities held to raise cash for its work.
The money will be used to look after patients, their families and carers when they are first diagnosed with a brain tumour.
A representative from the charity, who received a cheque from SYBA at a recent presentation, said it also offered information, guidance, support groups and a personalised service to help care for people with the condition.
Events such as a quiz night, raffles and a collection box at SYBA meetings brought in more than £1,933 and a further Lloyds Bank donation of £500 brought the eventual sum to more than £2,433.
