Chipping Sodbury RFC return to training
CHIPPING Sodbury RFC are back at Wickwar Road, kicking off their preseason preparations following the RFU road map that supports the return of community rugby.
The sessions allow for up to five players to be able to train together in a socially distant manner; however full blooded 15 v 15 matches seem a long way off, and it could be many months before the team gets back into league rugby action.
Head coach Geraint Lewis says it could be a long preseason.
He said: "We are really excited about the upcoming season, following a great run of unbeaten games before the lockdown came in.
"We will need to be patient and do the little bits and pieces that we are allowed to do.
"It’s quite possible there won’t be any leagues games until October or even November, so it’s imperative that we get preseason right and hit the ground running in what could be a shortened league campaign.
"Training has gone really well so far and the boys have been great at following all the COVID protocols. We have had great numbers in attendance and a few new faces that will definitely strengthen the squad."
