POLICEMAN Chris Rogers, whose patrol area includes Chipping Sodbury, has been named a community hero in an award scheme.
PC Rogers received a Pride Award from Avon and Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens – one of a number of people recognised for their outstanding work.
Nominations came from members of the public, with PC Rogers put forward for his “brilliant, honest and non-biased” approach to policing.
A local family who nominated him said they wanted him to be recognised for his high standard of professionalism and the empathy and compassion he showed when dealing with them.
They said: “We have never met such a genuinely nice person who is as sincere as Chris. Our family hold him in very high esteem.”
PC Rogers, who is a response officer, said: “I am surprised and delighted to have been nominated. I was simply doing my job - listening and helping members of the public. It means a lot to me that it has touched the local community.”
