Council backs 18a in principle

EMERSONS Green Town Council has voted to support the idea of a new junction 18a on the M4.

EMERSONS Green Town Council has voted to support the idea of a new junction 18a on the M4.

Seven councillors took part in the vote at the full council meeting on  October 12.

They passed a resolution explaining why they preferred the suggested western option behind the science park. It said:

• A junction in this area has been requested for years by people living in the area

• Industrial sites and the science park have been developed in this area with a view to better motorway access

• A junction in this area will support better access to employment

• The eastern option would be more disruptive and would have an impact on forestry.

South Gloucestershire Council’s public consultation on the junction and link road has closed and a report is expected in March,  before a decision is made as to whether to pursue the idea.
