Demand for coffee and cinema leads to new event at Armadillo centre
AFTERNOON teas and a free film screening have been introduced at the Armadillo youth cafe in Yate - for the over-50s.
The weekly event runs on Thursdays from 1pm and was introduced after the popularity of coffee mornings and movies, which have been offered also on Thursdays for the past five years for the same age group.
Carene Whiting-Hays, venues operations officer for Yate Town Council, which runs the youth cafe, said: “We decided it was time to respond to the demand and launch an additional afternoon event.”
The same film is shown at both sessions but the afternoon screening includes subtitles to help those with hearing problems.
