Elderly man attacked in Chipping Sodbury robbery -

A pensioner was pushed to the ground and had cash stolen in an attack in Chipping Sodbury today (Tuesday 11 July).

A pensioner was pushed to the ground and had cash stolen in an attack in Chipping Sodbury today (Tuesday 11 July). 

The 77-year-old man, who uses a hearing aid, was walking along Horseshoe Lane just after midday when a man came up behind him and pushed him over. 

The pensioner hurt his leg in the fall and while he lay on the ground his assailant threatened him, searched his pockets and stole cash from his wallet. 

Despite the shock, the man was able to describe his attacker as being a tanned white man with short dark hair. 

The pensioner was taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment to his injuries. 

Neighbourhood PC Ken Hill said: "This sort of offence is very rare in Chipping Sodbury. We're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at lunchtime today - they may have seen something which could help."
