Chipping Sodbury Big Lunch, Broad Street, Chipping Sodbury. Free street party from noon until 6pm. Country and Western theme with Blazing Saddles hoedown dance group, inflatable bucking bronco, fancy dress competition, tin can alley shoot out and Dolly Parton tribute artist Diamond Dolly. Hot food, drinks and ice creams on sale or bring your own picnic.
National Garden Scheme opening. Acton Court, Latteridge Road, Iron Acton, Bristol BS37 9TL. Open 11am-5pm, admission £5, children free. Walled 3-acre wildflower meadow and apple orchard with an abundance of old English and wild roses on the grounds of a grade I-listed Tudor manor house (restricted access). Acton Court will be sponsoring several special events on the themes of The Tudors, wildlife and music in support of the NGS days. Homemade teas. Also open on June 9 and 16.
Cancer Research UK potted plant sale at the Cancer Research UK shop in Yate Shopping Centre. Prices start from £1. Please come and support the charity as it aims to hit its donations goal.
Yate Rocks...in the Park festival, Kingsgate Park, noon to 8pm. Festival returns for 14th year with range of music from local bands and performances by dance groups. Arts and crafts stalls, children’s activities, food and drink. Magician, go-karts, inflatable and flight simulator.

All You Need is Love flower festival, St John the Baptist Church, Old Sodbury. Chipping Sodbury and Yate Flower Arranging Society will display their floral interpretations of Beatles songs including Lady Madonna, Strawberry Fields and Norwegian Wood. Free entry but donations to church funds welcomed. Cream teas and refreshments will be on sale throughout. Open 11am-6pm on Friday and Sunday, 11am-8pm on Saturday. Rotary Club of Chipping Sodbury 24th Classic Car Run. Assembling from 7.30am in Broad Street and leaving from 8.45am before returning to Ridings Playing Field from midday onwards. The run is non-competitive raises money for local individuals, groups and charities, as well as national groups.
Music in the Meadows, charity festival by Acton Aid for local good causes at the Mash in the Iron Acton Parish Meadows. Friday night, 6pm-11pm, includes ABBA tribute act Arrival and Queen tribute band Flash, plus Bristol’s Lewis Creaven Band. Yate and District Rotary Club Beer and Music Festival, Chipping Sodbury Rugby Ground. More than 80 real ales and craft beers, 25 types of cider and perry plus wines and Prosecco, hot food and music from seven live bands over two days. Open Friday from 6pm-11.30pm, Saturday from noon until 11.30pm.
