Family pays tribute to woman killed in Yate road collision
A FAMILY has paid tribute to a woman who died after the mobility scooter she was riding was involved in a collision with a car in Yate.
Shirley Meaden, 83, suffered critical injuries in the collision, which happened on Westerleigh Road on the morning of Sunday August 29.
She died of her injuries later that day.
Avon and Somerset police today released a tribute from her family, who said: "In memory of Shirley Meaden: mother of Mark and Maurice and grandmother to James, Tom, Maddison, Amber and Liam.
"To a lady that had endless giving in any way she could help, from sewing to shopping and just being a friend.
"She will be missed by people from all walks of life.
"Good night, God Bless Mum."
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held on Friday September 24 from 3.15pm to 5.45pm at Stanshawes Court in Yate.
A police spokesperson said: "Specialist officers continue to offer support to Shirley’s family.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
