People may not have turned their thoughts to Christmas just yet, but organisers of this year’s Crib Festival have appealed for loans of nativity crib scenes for the event.

St John’s Nativity Crib Festival runs from the 27 November to 3 December and also features craft workshops for children, storytelling sessions and a café.

Organisers are calling on local people, schools and groups to get involved.

One of the co-coordinators of the Festival Steve Kerner said, “In previous years, we have been able to display over 150 crib scenes with many loaned to us for the week. If you have one, or know someone who has, we would like to borrow it but promise to take great care of it.”

The festival was launched by the Reverend Jane Kenchington as a celebration of the Nativity scene and has proved to be a popular event in the town’s calendar.
