CHIPPING Sodbury ’s annual festival will bring music, art, carnival fun and quizzes together in a busy programme of events for all ages.

Organisers have drawn up ten days of entertainment to suit all interests and tastes for the festival, which runs from June 9-18.

A theme of Americana has been chosen and memorable performances and displays have been promised.

The schedule includes a performance by The Complete Blues Brothers, a Jazz Saturday featuring music in a number of venues, workshops, wine tasting and a talk called Ever Changing Sodbury by local historian Jim Elsworth.

Olympic ski jumper Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards will be a guest speaker and a number of free talks will cover a range of topics from bread to bats.

The programme also includes a schools’ art exhibition, a Music in the Street event and the town’s own version of Last Night of the proms with the award winning Flowers Band.

For many youngsters, the highlight will be the street fair and carnival on the final Saturday.

Weather permitting, aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight will be in the skies above the town as the carnival is in progress.

Tickets for the various events are available in Swagger, High Street, and in The Health Shop, Horse Street. Details are also available via www.chippingsodburyfestival.co.uk or the event’s Facebook page.
