Five-star award for Yate's Kingsgate Park
YATE’S Kingsgate Park has been given a 5-star rating by Britain in Bloom South West.
The Pride in Parks award is the third in a row for the popular park, which attracts visitors from across Yate, Chipping Sodbury and further afield.
The Friends of Kingsgate Park announced the award, which relates to judging that took place last year.
The Friends said in a statement: “This is the third consecutive year that we have received this accolade.
“The Friends of Kingsgate Park and Yate Town Council do work together to make this park the success it is.
“Our biggest thanks go to Phil Jones, Estates Manager Yate Town Council and his wonderful team. They have been enthusiastic about looking after Kingsgate Park and all other parks in Yate.
“Nothing has been too much trouble for them, looking after their own health and safety and those of the public. Thank you so much!
“Unfortunately this year the Kingsgate Park had to be closed due to the pandemic and was missed by many people who use it to walk their dogs, meet their friends and take their children to play. “The park is now open from 10am-5pm and it is being used within the strict limits that are imposed at the present time.
“We do thank those that have used the park adhering to the social distancing.
“We have not been able to allow the play area to open but it will open again as soon as we are allowed to do so.”
