Flu jabs free for carers
Carers looking after an elderly or disabled person can get a free flu jab this autumn.
The flu virus can cause anything from mild illness to more severe symptoms and even death. Ann Tolaini is the GP Carers Liaison Manager at the Carers Support Centre, a local charity which supports carers in South Gloucestershire. She said: “The seasonal flu vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and the person you care for from the influenza virus.”
Other categories of people also eligible for a free flu jab include those aged over 65, those who are pregnant, and those with certain health conditions.
To arrange a free jab, ask your GP practice or pharmacy. If you are a carer and would like more information, contact CarersLine on 0117 965 2200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
