Flying the flag in Yate for military association
A CEREMONY to be held in Yate will involve the blessing of a new standard of one of the oldest branches of the Royal Engineers Association in the country.
The Bristol branch will hold the event in St Mary’s Church on Sunday, April 29, at 10.45am, with assembly from 10.15am.
The primary function of the association is to help serving sappers, veterans and their families who have fallen on hard times.
Its work has continued for more than 100 years and with an ever-increasing number of wounded sappers returning from operations and conflicts around the world, its role is still vital.
All regular, army reserve, and ex-sappers are welcome to attend the ceremony, for which the dress code is dress berets, blazers and medals.
