FAMILIES turned out in force for the annual Easter Egg Extravaganza in Kingsgate Park, Yate, with people queuing in the sunshine to join in the fun.
Some 1,500 people attended, with more than 700 children taking part and receiving a chocolate egg.
There were also 40 entries in an Easter bonnet contest, all earning a prize for parading their colourful hats.
The event was organised by Yate Town Council in conjunction with the Friends of Kingsgate Park, with support also given by local businesses.
Many families stayed in the park afterwards for a picnic and to let youngsters enjoy the play areas.
The town council and the Friends will next be joining forces to stage the annual community music festival in the park on June 20 and 21.
