Gateway to cakes for Yate park users

A NEW gate has been installed to give direct access to a recently opened cafe from popular Kingsgate Park in Yate.

Yate mayor Tony Davis joins Nicole Jones and Suzanne Jenkinson for the opening of the gate linking the Vintage Birdcage Cakery with Kingsgate Park, flanked by Yate town councillors and members of the Friends of Kingsgate Park.

A NEW gate has been installed to give direct access to a recently opened cafe from popular Kingsgate Park in Yate.
The Vintage Birdcage Cakery opened in February in a renovated groom’s house near the park, behind Stanshawes Court.
Nicole Jones and Suzanne Jenkinson, who run the enterprise, were already in talks with Yate Town Council over the provision of a gate at the time of the opening.
Now one has been put in place and formerly opened by town mayor Tony Davis.
Mr Davis said the council and the Friends of Kingsgate Park were pleased to have been able to support the cafe through installation of the gate.
The business developed as a result of Nicole using her baking skills to help raise money for her daughter’s school more than five years ago.
She went on to bake commercially from home and recruited Suzanne as her business partner as demand increased.
A move to a bigger kitchen in Frampton Cotterell followed but they soon outgrew that and switched to Yate.
