A couple whose son was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010 have raised over £1400 for the local charity Brain Tumour Support.

Carole and Ian Yearsley organised the second annual golf event at Thornbury Golf Course with the support of Sodbury and Yate Business Association.  30 golfers took to the greens, with prizes awarded for nearest the pins, longest drive, worst shot of the day and best individual and team scores.

Carole said, “It is always great fun hosting these events at Thornbury Golf Course and we couldn’t have put it together without the help of all our volunteers and supporters, and members of the Sodbury and Yate Business Association. I’d like to pass on my thanks to everyone who sponsored the event, donated cakes and gave prizes for the raffle. We were overwhelmed by the amount we raised on the day and we’re already planning to make next year’s event even bigger and better”

The Brain Tumour Support Charity provides support and counselling for patients, and their families and carers, whose lives may be affected by a brain tumour diagnosis. Carole said that the support provided to their son and family had continued to be invaluable.”
