Grants totalling £13,000 allocated to two local churches by trust

CHURCHES in Tormarton and Badminton have received grants to help keep them in a good state of repair.

CHURCHES in Tormarton and Badminton have received grants to help keep them in a good state of repair.

St Michael and All Angels in Badminton has been given £6,000 for stonework repairs, while St Mary Magdalene in Tormarton was granted £7,000 towards the re-ordering of the south aisle and other work.

The money was part of the latest round of grant approvals, which totalled £80,000, sanctioned by the Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust.

Any place of Christian worship within South Gloucestershire, north Bristol and Gloucestershire can apply to the trust for support .

Its chairman, Nick Talbot Rice, said: “Maintaining these buildings, which are such an integral part of our visual and historic landscape, is usually very expensive and this often presents a major challenge for congregations. The trust is pleased to be able to support churches with their fundraising.”
