Hand crafted poppies will create centenary displays
People in Chipping Sodbury and Old Sodbury are being asked to knit and crochet poppies to help mark the centenary of the end of the Great War.
The poppies will be used to create displays on the war memorial in Chipping Sodbury, outside all the churches and at the Millennium Garden on the Ridings.
Jane Lund of Sodbury in Bloom said: “The aim was to bring together organisations, groups and individuals to make this a real community project and it seems to be working.”
“We have contacted a number of groups who are now involved but if you or your group would like to join in you can download the patterns from the Sodbury in Bloom page on the ‘My Sodbury’ website or collect them from the library.”
The poppies will be collected in September and the displays will be in place for the month of November 2018.
Wool and patterns can also be found at Koala Kreations in Hatherells Yard and poppies can be returned there or to the library.
