Hawkins appointed as Yate interim manager

March 29 2015

Yate Town FC appointed Nigel Hawkins as Interim Manager following the decision to relieve Rob Cousins and Michael Meaker of their positions. The new chapter in Town’s history started promisingly with successive victories over Shortwood United and Fleet Town, a drew at Tiverton Town and then a return to winning ways against fellow promotion candidates Didcot Town. The odd goal in five against North Leigh ended the teams’ excellent run of form.

With just seven matches of the season remaining, Yate are six points off a top five finish but still have an outside chance of reaching the promotion play-offs.
April brings matches against three of their rival contenders including an Easter Monday match at Lodge Road against play-off favourites Larkhall Athletic and a home game the following Saturday against title favourites Merthyr Town.
Yate Town’s Under 18 team has enjoyed a very successful season, and are virtually assured of winning the Somerset Floodlight Youth League North Division. They won 14 of their first 16 matches and enjoy a huge goal difference. In addition, the Youth Team reached the finals of both The Glos FA Under 18 Youth Shield and the SFYL League Cup, where they meet Gloucester City and Weston Super Mare respectively.
