It’s a family affair for runners

Runners from Yate and Wickwar have taken part in the Weston Christmas Cracker event. Three generations of one family, Alice, Katie and Tracy Rogers, took part in the main 10k race along with Colin Davies, while 9 year old Alfie Gendall competed in the inaugural 2k Mini Cracker Race

Runners from Yate and Wickwar have taken part in the Weston Christmas Cracker event. Three generations of one family, Alice, Katie and Tracy Rogers, took part in the main 10k race along with Colin Davies, while 9 year old Alfie Gendall competed in the inaugural 2k Mini Cracker Race
The 10km race attracted over 1800 runners, many in fancy dress or wearing Christmas Decorations. The event is held to raise funds for the Weston Hospicecare and other charities and raised over £9,400 in 2014.
The 2km Mini Cracker race aimed at younger runners aged from 7 years to 15 proved very popular with 125 runners taking part. The race was won by William Fuller, who runs for North Somerset AC, in a time of 7 minutes 48 seconds.
The Weston Cracker attracts runners from all over the South West with many runners from the Yate and Sodbury area taking part.
