Lions welcome new president

A NEW president has taken over the reins of Chipping Sodbury Lions Club after town councillor Juan Nuevo came to the end of his term of office.

A NEW president has taken over the reins of Chipping Sodbury Lions Club after town councillor Juan Nuevo came to the end of his term of office.

He has been followed into the role by Christine Dodd after his successful year as president, which saw him get involved in a number of projects.

They included a marathon hitch-hike and walk from his home to John O’ Groats and back  before continuing to Land’s End and home again, a feat that raised nearly £5,000 for charity.

At the hand-over event, Ms Dodd presented Mr Nuevo with the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his service to humanity. 

The outgoing president said he was proud of his club and the thousands of pounds it had raise for national and international charities.
