Long winless run for Chipping Sodbury Town

CHIPPING Sodbury Town will be hoping to end a poor start to the season which saw them endure a nine game winless run, including being dumped out of both the FA Cup and the FA Vase.

Some thumping defeats, including an 8-1 home reverse to promotion-chasing Bridgwater Town and 6-2 loss to local rivals Bitton, has left the team in the relegation zone of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division with a goal difference of -20.

Town secured a point - their first since their opening day win over Cribbs - in a 2-2 draw against Westbury United, Sam Makepeace equalising with three minutes left. But they lost the next two fixtures 2-0, against Cribbs and Hallen.

After hosting Bridport at the end of September, Sodbury face four consecutive away matches in October, before home games against Keynsham Town and Shepton Mallet.
