Made in Dagenham comes to stage in Chipping Sodbury

A MUSICAL telling the tale of factory workers who took a stand for women's rights is coming to Chipping Sodbury.

Sodbury Vale Musical Comedy Club will bring Made in Dagenham, the tale of female Ford sewing machinists who went on strike in 1968 for recognition of their skilled status, inspiring the movement that led to the Equal Pay Act of 1970.

The story was made into a film in 2010 and later became a hit musical.

A club spokesperson said: "This is an uplifting musical full of powerful songs along with some poignant ballads by David Arnold and Richard Thomas, a witty and emotional script written by Richard Bean showing us how far we have come for women’s equality but reminds us that the journey isn’t over yet."

The show will be at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall from May 26 to 28, with performances starting at 7.30pm and a Saturday Matinee at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £12 each, via www.ticketsource.co.uk/svmcc.
