More success on the track for Alfie Gendall
YOUNG Yate racer Alfie Gendall is continuing make an impression in his first season behind the wheel.
Alfie, aged 13, managed podium positions in the finals at both Junior ACCR UK (American Cup Car Racing) championship events in September.
First up was a trip to Lydden Hill Oval, near Dover, where the cars could really stretch their legs on the longest, fastest track on their calendar.
Alfie managed a 2nd place in heat 1, managed to bring it home in 3rd place in heat 2 even with a puncture and flat tyre and, in a very close final, managed to finish in 2nd place to secure another trophy.
A week later he travelled north to Buxton Raceway in the Derbyshire hills for the penultimate race weekend of the series. Changeable weather made tyre choice tricky for the two heats and a broken exhaust in heat 2 did not help matters.
With the exhaust welded back on and a change onto wet tyres just in time for the final, Alfie was pleased to finish on the podium in 3rd place, to finish an eventful but good couple of race weekends, with some great racing.
There is now a short break until the last race weekend of the championship at Swaffham in Norfolk.
Alfie would like to thank his sponsors including Bristol Cameras, Pentax and Cleaner Carpets Bristol as well as the Junior ACCR UK officials.
The Junior ACCR UK cars are built in the USA and are half scale NASCAR cars, powered by a 390cc Honda engine and limited in the UK to 60mph. They are designed for girls and boys aged eight to 16 and are a great introduction to motorsport with a full safety roll cage, adjustable suspension, disc brakes and a central driving position.
Alfie is looking for new sponsors to help him fund his racing in 2020 and any company interested in having a logo on his car and be seen by fans across the UK should email email@example.com or find him on social media.
