VOLUNTEERS can join in a work morning at the Ridge Wood nature reserve, which has been organised by the site’s Friends group.
A range of practical tasks will be carried out for a couple of hours on Sunday, January 24, at the wood, which marks the boundary between Yate and Chipping Sodbury.
The reserve is on a wedge of high ground and is important for its features and diversity of species.
It is owned by quarry firm Hanson Aggregates but the Friends of Ridge Wood carry out conservation work and run events for the community.
The work morning will be suitable for all abilities and the Friends will provide gloves and tools.
New volunteers can just turn up and everyone should meet at 10am at the Melrose Close entrance.
