Pre-season training started over a month ago for the vast majority of Yate Town FC’s squad.  The team has been preparing hard for the league season, which kicks off on the 12th August,

Several new players have arrived at Lodge Road including former Yate favourite Brad Abraham and Ben Brooks formerly of Larkhall Athletic amongst those who have committed to the club for next season.

Yate’s first friendly home match against a Bristol Rovers XI, watched by a crowd of over 900 ended goalless. Rovers did not field any first team regulars but both sides benefited from the run out in a competitive game. Ben Brooks, Jack Ball and George Box all came close to scoring for Town.

Town’s second friendly at Thornbury Town was another close encounter with George Box scoring the only goal of the game.

August sees the visits of Bideford and local rivals Mangotsfield United to Yate, with Town away to Longwell Green or Cadbury Heath for a local derby in the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup.
