New council leader opens Yate police forum
Toby Savage, South Gloucestershire Council’s new leader, has opened the latest forum where residents can have their say on local policing.
The forums are a regular opportunity for members of the public to meet leading police officers and are held by the area’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Sue Mountstevens.
Also attending was Chief Constable Andy Marsh and Chief Inspector Mark Evans.
Some of the topics discussed included visibility of neighbourhood teams, county lines drug dealing, terrorism and dangerous driving.
The panel of speakers each gave a short presentation, before inviting questions from the audience.
PCC Sue Mountstevens said: “The local policing issues raised at the forum have been well and truly heard. It is only by working together, with South Gloucestershire council, local residents and other partner agencies that we will continue to build safer and stronger communities.”
“It’s clear the residents who take the time to attend our public forums care about their communities and want to make a positive change. Thank you for attending our forum and for taking the time to listen to the Chief Constable and I.”
You can watch a recording on the forum, and notes from the question and answer session will be published on our website - www.avonandsomerset-pcc.gov.uk/Take-Part/PCC-Public-Forum.aspx
