New council role for former Yate mayor

YATE councillor Ian Blair has been elected as vice-chairman of South Gloucestershire Council.

YATE councillor Ian Blair has been elected as vice-chairman of South Gloucestershire Council.
Mr Blair, a Liberal Democrat who is also a member of Yate Town Council and a former town mayor, was sworn into his role during an official ceremony at Kingswood Civic Centre.
Erica Williams, who represents Bitton for the Conservatives on the unitary authority, was chosen to continue in her role as chairwoman after completing her first term of office.
She said during the coming year, she would carry on fundraising for her chosen charities, which include Avon Valley Railway in Bitton and the Wild Place Project - part of Bristol Zoo - at Cribbs Causeway.
