New pedestrian crossing for Westerleigh Road
People living in Yate will soon have a new pedestrian crossing on Westerleigh Road, located just south of the B&Q roundabout.
The crossing will be part of a part of a wider scheme to improve traffic flows in key locations including Station Road and Kennedy Way.
Residents recently raised concerns about the safety of pedestrians in the centre of Yate and on the Westerleigh Road. They’ve had an opportunity to comment on the plans via the online consultations page of the South Gloucestershire Council website.
The crossing is one of the many traffic measures being considered as part of the Council’s Local Transport Capital Programme for 2017/18.
MP Luke Hall said: “After hearing from local residents Simon Schofield and Ian Livermore about their concerns about safe crossing, I am pleased the Council are considering this new crossing on Westerleigh Road. I am working with road safety campaigners to ensure this vital crossing is introduced as soon as possible”.
