LOTS for December's specialist jewellery section are already heading into Stroud Auction Rooms.

LOTS for December's specialist jewellery section are already heading into Stroud Auction Rooms. This pre-Christmas sale is always popular with vendors and buyers alike and this year the rush has started early, but entries are still invited with the closing date of 18thNovember.

Jewellery expert Alexandra Bowkett has been kept busy appraising and cataloguing the huge amount of jewellery which has already been consigned for the three-day auction (December 6, 7 and 8) with much more expected to come in. For some time now, the quarterly jewellery sales have taken up the whole of the first day of the sale at Stroud Auctions - and it certainly looks as if the pattern will continue in December. Alex points out that it's not just the quantity of the consigned jewellery that has taken her by surprise but the extraordinary quality of many of the pieces being brought in.

Among the items already consigned are several sought-after Tiffany pieces with guide prices of £3,000-£5,000, and a rare 1938 Cartier brooch set with citrines and diamonds, which is guided at £10,000-£15,000. This stunning brooch in the form of a flower typifies the new designs which came about after the International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques in Modern Life in Paris the previous year, where exciting new designs featuring animals and flowers were on display. The brooch is also set with large citrines, which became incredibly popular for a brief period around this time due to the newly discovered deposits in Brazil.

Also consigned are some beautiful diamond-set and Victorian pieces.

If you have items of jewellery you may wish to sell then please bring them along to the saleroom and Alexandra will be pleased to help. Either call into one of the regular free valuation days (Fridays 9am-5pm or Saturdays 9am-12.30pm) or ring 01453 873800 and make an appointment for Alex to appraise your pieces.
