TWO pre-schools in Yate and Chipping Sodbury have been rated as good by inspectors, with children at both said to be enthusiastic and settled.

 TWO pre-schools in Yate and Chipping Sodbury have been rated as good by inspectors, with children at both said to be enthusiastic and settled.

Ofsted said youngsters at Phase Five Pre-School in Abbotswood, Yate, and Chipping Sodbury Pre-School made good progress.

Its report on Phase Five, which meets at the St Nicholas Family Centre, said the manager had a clear vision for the facility and had made a lot of improvements since her appointment.

An action plan was well targeted and focused on raising the achievements of all children.

Interesting activities were planned, children were keen learners and those with special educational needs or disabilities were well supported.

Inspectors said Chipping Sodbury Pre-School, run in the scout hut at The Ridings, put a strong focus on supporting children’s communication and language skills, which provided a firm foundation for their learning and development.

Their report said youngsters had good levels of concentration, persevered well with tasks and were proud of their achievements.

It also said staff were skilled at using the children’s interests to plan activities.
