Old Sodbury Under 16s continued their resurgence with an impressive home win over high flying Stockwood Wanderers followed by a fine away performance at Timsbury Athletic.
3-0 up at the break, Old Sodbury never looked in danger of relinquishing their lead to Stockwood and early pressure unsettled the visitors who were unable to recover their usual composure.
Defender Josh Timbrell opened the scoring with a deft flick from a corner and Harry Trigg doubled the advantage with a wonderful 25-yard strike into the top corner. Ross Womack tucked home to make it 3-0 at the break. The anticipated Stockwood comeback was quickly snuffed out when Old Sodbury’s leading scorer from the previous season, Ross Womack, scored his second to put the result beyond doubt.  Despite a couple of late consolation goals Old Sodbury ran out 4-2 winners.
A trip to fellow promotion winners Timsbury Athletic resulted in a 12-goal thriller with both teams playing an attacking brand of football.
Kieron Kay’s excellent control and trickery resulted in the opening goal and an end-to-end encounter finished 7-5 in favour of the in-form visitors. Robbie Foxwell scored the final goal following a five-goal haul by man of the match Ross Womack who found his form of last season.
Old Sodbury face tough back-to-back matches against the league leaders Westfield with the results likely to affect the clubs promotion chances.
