Old Sodbury Under 16’s took their final two matches of the season ‘on tour’ with a first stop at The Ridings in Chipping Sodbury to meet local rivals St Nicholas YFC.

The home side were restricted to just a couple of chances by solid Old Sodbury defending, however the visitors failed to match their opponents’ energy levels and St Nicks found themselves in a commanding 2-0 position. A late consolation from Kieron Kay caused the home sides nerves to flutter but St Nicks held out to claim the points.

Following one of their most disappointing performances Old Sodbury hosted Stoke Lane in their final match of an inconsistent season. The match took place at the ground of Tytherington Rocks.

On a glorious day and an excellent surface the watching crowd were treated to a superb display of attacking football. While Old Sodbury ran out 3-0 winners a memorable performance by the visiting goalkeeper avoided a heavier defeat for the visitors.

Old Sodbury dominated from the first whistle and top scorer Ross Womack sprinted away to slot home his 29th goal of the season. Robbie Foxwell bundled in the team’s second before half time and Callum Heaphy’s beautifully weighted pass found Rhys Bond who tucked home his first goal for the club to finish the scoring.

After three very enjoyable and successful seasons the team has played its last match together. Manager Damian Frodsham said, “I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the players, parents and helpers who have contributed to a wonderful environment. Thanks must also go to Old Sodbury FC for the use of their pitch for the past three years. We wish all our boys well at their new clubs next season.”
