The town council is considering continuing the Brimsham Park Picnic after the success of the event last year.
Around 150 local residents gathered in Brimsham Park for a picnic and hog roast last August. The event included a treasure hunt for children, and £800 was raised for the Great Western Air Ambulance through donations, annual lottery subs and a donation from the hog roast.
The free event, which was the idea of Councillor John Ford, was organised by Yate Town Council to celebrate the park in the middle of Brimsham and to bring the local community together. The Friends of Brinsham Park were also involved.
Councillor Ford said “it was marvellous to see so many members the community enjoying the park and joining in with the activities, this event is something we would certainly like to see growing year after year.”
