MEMBERS of Chipping Sodbury Rotary Club have helped the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity buy a vital piece of kit worth nearly £10,000.
They were among 14 Rotary clubs across Bristol and Gloucestershire to raise funds for a video laryngoscope for the helicopter crews.
The equipment allows medics to clear a patient’s airway and assist their breathing by inserting a tube with a microscopic camera.
Blocked or damaged airways are common in trauma victims and the video laryngoscope provides a clear image of any blockages or damage suffered.
John Christensen, chief executive of GWAAC, said: “We are so thankful for the generosity and kindness shown to us by the Rotary Clubs in District 1100. Their donation has enabled our charity to buy a vital piece of kit.”
