School in special measures taking ‘effective action’
The first OFSTED monitoring report of Tyndale Park Primary School in Yate since it went into special measures, has found that its leadership team is taking ‘effective action’.
Inspectors approved both the school and the council’s improvement plans to bring it out of its lowest rating. It also gave the school permission to appoint newly qualified teachers, providing that they are mentored and supported.
In January, OFSTED’s full report required improvements in teaching and learning, leadership and management. It asked for an external review of governance and of how the pupil premium is being spent.
However it commented positively that the leadership team had worked hard to improve behaviour, and that pastoral provision and safeguarding was effective. It complimented pupils for being polite and welcoming.
