The Year 7 boys football team at Chipping Sodbury School is celebrating after winning the South Glos Cup Final.
They took the title after outplaying The Castle School of Thornbury to win.
Over 35 teams started in the competition back in January with the top two meeting head to head in the final at the Fry’s Sporting facility.
The 13 boy squad, captained by Harvey Greenslade and coached by sixth form students Jack Hawkins and Tom Melling were too hot to handle, running out comfortable 4-0 winners.
Chipping Sodbury dominated from the kick off probing and pushing their opponents back to create the first goal on 8 minutes. Guy McEwan calmly slotted home a penalty to give his team a 1-0 advantage.
As the game progressed a long ball from a free kick separated the Castle back three and Harvey Greenslade scored Sodbury’s second. Joe Stott in the Sodbury goal made a crucial save to tip the ball over the bar in what was Castle’s only real shot in anger.
Jamal Bwanamkuu struck twice in the second half to cap a classy performance by the whole team.
