School's litter busters help animals

PUPILS tidied up Broadway Infant School in Yate – and helped animals around the world at the same time.

Year 1 teacher Poppy Roscoe organised a sponsored litter pick in and around the school grounds to raise money for Year 1 classes to sponsor an animal with nature conservation body the World Wildlife Fund.

Acting Head Teacher Sarah Titley said: "She was hoping for £50 to sponsor one animal, but our children raised an amazing £1643.45!

"We are very proud, and each of our six classes has chosen an animal to sponsor for two years."
