Two sixth formers from Chipping Sodbury have visited local MP Luke Hall in Westminster for a day.
Ethan Jarman and Ashley Wilson, who are both studying Government and Politics in Year 13, were invited after taking part in the Youth Political Forum.
The forum was set up by Luke Hall as a way to try and get young people in the area to participate in local and national politics. The forum’s attendance has doubled recently after local schools and sixth forms signed up to get involved.
The trip itself involved shadowing Luke for the day and included a Tour of the Palace of Westminster, the chamber and the House of Lords.
Ethan said; “It was great to have a personal tour of Parliament and to see how our MP’s spend the day working.”
Mr Hall told the Voice; “I think what the forum is really showing us is that if you give young people the opportunity to get involved, they won’t respond in an apathetic way”.
