Award nominations for Sodbury Players

MEMBERS of amateur dramatics group Sodbury Players are celebrating after receiving two nominations in a prestigious regional awards contest.

The group, whose Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime ran at Chipping Sodbury Town Hall in January, were chosen in the Best Pantomime and Company Characterisation categories of the National Operatic and Dramatic Association South West awards.

Their 2018 pantomime Peter Pan was a huge success, with a near sell-out run, and the youth group’s production of Footloose also won recognition.

Jake Palmer, 18, played both leading men in the two shows.

This year’s Jack and the Beanstalk also sold almost every seat.

A spokesperson for the Players said: “We are so pleased to have our work recognised. We enjoyed some great success at the Rose Bowls this year as well, and we are really pleased that we are moving in the right direction as a group.”

The group are presenting the One Act Festival at the Town Hall from March 7-9 and a May production of Rumours.

Tickets can be booked online at bit.ly/29BiwY8.
